This week, the mysterious starship Discovery makes its debut on Star Trek: Discovery, along with Jason Isaacs (best known as Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter films) as Captain Gabriel Lorca, a figure who appears determined to win the war with the Klingons at any cost, and with no regard for any ethical concerns. It’s somewhat troubling territory for a Star Trek series to delve into, when part of what so many of us love about Trek is its strong ethical core and its depiction of a better future for humankind.
