Gender Across Borders Podcast Interview – Feminist Frequency

Gender Across Borders Podcast Interview

September 14, 2010

Gender Across Borders (GAB) invited me to be a guest on their new monthly podcast to discuss the Bechdel Test. I applied the test to Sex and the City 2 and Karate Kid and looked at what it means when a movie just barely passes.  I also explored whether we can really apply the test to television shows?

If you aren’t familiar with GAB they are an international feminist community where issues of gender, race, sexuality, and class are discussed online. To listen to my interview you can subscribe to the GAB podcast.

A full transcript is available on the original GAB posting.

What do representations of gender and race in major motion pictures, hit television series and video games have to do with the current social and political climate?

Our newest videos analyze these connections by focusing on today’s most pressing social issues.

Like all of Feminist Frequency’s work, our new show is completely free to the public.

You can help us make sure it stays that way.
