WonderCon 2011

At this year’s WonderCon 2011 (a giant comic book convention taking place every year in downtown San Francisco) I got to check out some interesting panels such as “Comics for Social Justice: The Making of Oil and Water”, “Writing Queer: Creating and Writing LGBT Characters” and “A Brief Herstory of Gum Shoe Gals, Spy-Fi Sheroes, and Private Dick Chicks” (you may have caught my live tweets from all the panels at @femfreq).

I also hung around the RaceBending.com fan table talking about Hollywood’s problem with whitewashing characters of colour and met the great folks of Geek Girl Con including Jennifer Stuller, author of Ink-Stained Amazons and Cinematic Warriors: Superwomen in Modern Mythology.

But my favourite part about Cons is the cosplay. Check out my photos of some incredible costumes ranging from comic book characters to Dr. Who to Avatar: The Last Airbender, there was even a Care Bear!
